CPD Program Update

Due to the introduction of new CPD Home requirements, the College CPD Program is no longer offered.

CPD homes are AMC-accredited, quality-assured providers that coordinate and monitor CPD programs, help doctors tailor learning to their needs, and support safe practice (including culturally safe practice, addressing health inequities, professionalism and ethical practice).

Most doctors must join an AMC-accredited CPD home before starting CPD each calendar year, log activities through that home, and declare their CPD home at annual registration renewal. Exemptions or variations may be granted by the CPD home (not the Board) for continuous absence from practice of 6–12 months due to parental/carer leave, serious illness or other approved circumstances.

You generally don’t need a CPD home if you’re an intern in an accredited intern program, a PGY2 doctor in an accredited PGY2 program and/or supervised hospital/general practice role, have limited registration (public interest or teaching/research) for no more than four weeks, or hold non-practising registration. Specialist trainees and SIMGs on the specialist pathway complete CPD through the relevant accredited specialist medical college.
